NBA: Bobcats go into offseason with focus on sales
The Charlotte Bobcats basketball team spent much of the franchise's first season in the new uptown arena correcting past missteps. Now, after shuttering a regional sports network and slashing season ticket prices for next season by 14%, local investors such as Nelson Schwab believe the organization is poised for significant sales gains in the months ahead.
"There were things we needed to correct," says Schwab, an investment banker and one of the key players in convincing the NBA championship tournament to put a second expansion franchise in Charlotte after the Hornets relocated to Louisiana. "We're doing that. The good news is we have an owner in Bob Johnson who is willing to make adjustments. Nothing is sacred here."
